In 2013 Bloukruin Boerdery commenced our search with the potential to produce maize and sugar beans, however we fell in love with Ionia’s matured and somewhat majestic snow-white cherry trees. These cherry orchards illustrate a defining sense of origin. 

Ionia Cherry farm presents with orchards of beauty and diversity. We are privileged to have cherry- and prune orchards. Artistic endeavour and a passion for farming is what matters to us.

Ionia Cherry farm is situated among the picturesque three mountain ranges; Witteberge, Rooiberge and the Maluti mountains. Ionia farm is situated in an area that is capable of producing naturally balanced sweet cherries. Ionia has five farms with more than 1500 cherry trees. We offer 19 cultivars of red cherries and 2 cultivars of yellow cherries. We aim to support keeping our rich local food biodiversity and traditions alive.

Ionia Cherry farm cultures the expresses compassion, reciprocity, dignity, harmony and humanity in the interests of building and maintaining a community with justice and mutual caring.
